Welcome to velvetmutineer – a tiny oasis of handbag heaven nestled in a quiet corner of the internet superhighway. We handcraft one-off and limited edition handbags & accessories fusing rich textures of fabrics from velvets, cords, satins, brocades and nappa leathers, to bright-and-bold cotton canvases, tweeds and hardwearing upholstery materials. We love to experiment with our bags by mixing and matching new materials with splashes of vintage, recycled, woollen and organic materials, and testing out quirky techniques like hand-felting, hand-pulled screen printing.

Every one of our products has been individually designed and hand made in the UK from top notch materials, and with lots of love and care. Many are adorned with totally one-of-a-kind bits and bobs collected from around the world, so no two bags or accessories are ever the same. That’s whether the embellishment is a hand-carved coconut shell button picked up in a dusty shop in Thailand; a hand-woven strap bought directly from streetweavers in Peru or a velvet appliqué inspired by a shower curtain in Finsbury Park.

There's our large expandable tote bags with magnetic closures on each side, that are perfect for throwing all your bits and bobs into - whether that's a lever arch file, your gym gear or just some shopping treats!

We have a mini expandable tote bag made to the same design as it's larger sister, but cuter.... perfect for carrying daily essentials, with a silky velvet lining and an inside pocket!

We have the rectangle bag, with a fully adjustable strap so you can choose whether you carry cross-body, or slung over one shoulder - again velvet-lined, it's perfect for taking to the park on a hot summer day with a book and shades...ah!

Next there's the slouchy hobo which again has a fully adjustable strap so you can choose the one shoulder or cross body option.... It has a sturdy zip to keep all your possessions safe and sound inside,with a velvet lining. This cheeky little bag can hold loads, but looks sweet and isn't too bulky.

The duffle is our sporty number... originally designed for carrying gym and dancing clothing, but equally at home with lots of other stuff and is pretty hip at the moment with cotton canvas and velvet combinations.

Last but not least, there's our little clutch bags that are perfect for a night out or when you just don't need to carry very much around. They can be carried in one hand or over the shoulder.
