Welcome to velvet mutineer – a chilled-out oasis of handbag heaven nestled amongst the hurly-burly of the internet superhighway. Our speciality is handcrafting one-off bags & accessories from a range of vintage, recycled, felt, organic and new fabrics. As well as continually dreaming up new and funky designs and styles, we also love experimenting with novel techniques like the hand-felting process and hand-pulled screen printing, and are always looking to incorporate some quirky technique into our handmade bags and accessories. And that includes looking at ways to minimise our impact on nature by using hand-dyed 100% organic cotton thread to stitch our handbags together.

Every one of our products has been individually designed and hand made in the UK from top notch materials, and with lots of love and care. Many are adorned with totally one-of-a-kind bits and bobs collected from around the world, so no two bags or accessories are ever the same. That’s whether the embellishment is a hand-carved coconut shell button picked up in a dusty shop in Thailand; a hand-woven strap bought directly from streetweavers in Peru or a velvet appliqué inspired by a shower curtain in Finsbury Park.
